Celebrating a Moment in History
Popular cookie brand honors 150 years of delicious memories
Toronto (July 24, 2007) -- Who would have thought 150 years could taste so good? Peek Freans, a recognized brand loved by millions from coast to coast is celebrating its 150th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Peek Freans is launching a special edition commemorative tin inviting Canadians to be part of the celebration and preserve a piece of the last 150 years.
“When it comes to Peek Freans, many Canadians have a personal favorite. To some, it’s not just a cookie – it’s a ritual,” says Farrah Bezner, Product Manager for Peek Freans. “Whether you’re enjoying the ever-famous Fruit Creme with a creamy filling and red jelly center while reading a good book, or the timeless Shortcake savoured during some personal ‘me time’ at the end of a busy day, there’s often a special memory or moment that comes with each cookie.”
Named after the founders, James Peek and George Hender Freans, Peek Freans has been providing distinctive quality biscuits since 1857. Today, the menu of flavours continues to grow and includes 18 different varieties with five additional flavours that are part of the Peek Freans Lifestyle Selections better-for-your line-up.
Since the first collectible tin was introduced in 1906, the Peek Freans brand has been committed to making quality biscuits that will continue to pass the test of time and capture a taste of history for future generations.
Wrapped in historical images telling a pictorial tale of the last 150 years, the commemorative tin is filled with all of the timeless favourites and is available for a limited time in select grocery stores across the country. The tins selection includes Fruit Creme, Digestive, Shortcake, Bourbon Creme, Garden Creme, Currant Shortcake, and Family Digestive.
