Kraft Peanut Butter Bears giving out free hugs at Atwater Market in support of Moisson Montreal
Montreal, May 16, 2009 – Hunger never takes a holiday. And during the summer months, donations to Moisson Montreal significantly decline, drastically limiting supplies for those in need. Spread the Feeling by joining Kraft Peanut Butter Bears ‘Smoothie’ and ‘Crunchy’ at Atwater Market on Saturday, May 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and get a free hug in an effort to end hunger. For every bear hug, Kraft Peanut Butter will donate one 500 g jar of peanut butter to Moisson Montreal.
If you can’t make it to Atwater Market, help Spread the Feeling by sending a virtual hug to friends and family online at spreadthefeeling.ca. For each virtual hug sent, Kraft Peanut Butter will donate a 500 g jar of Kraft Peanut Butter to Moisson Montreal. Kraft Peanut Butter’s goal is to generate enough hugs to donate up to 10,000 jars.
“We are delighted to have the support of Kraft Peanut Butter during a time of year when donations are traditionally low,” said Johanne Théroux, General Manager, Moisson Montreal. “Peanut butter is an important food item for us, so we’re thrilled to receive such a significant donation. This will certainly help many families get through the summer months.”
For the past 25 years, Moisson Montreal has made the fight against poverty its priority. Moisson Montreal recovers and freely redistributes food and essential products to 210 community organizations in Montreal, reaching 112,000 people each month, 36,000 of those being children. For these children, peanut butter can help by being a part of the balanced diet they require.
“Supporting Moisson Montreal during their 25th anniversary to help relieve hunger is something we’re extremely proud of,” said Genevieve Boulanger, Associate Consumer Promotions Manager, Kraft Canada. "This is a heartwarming event that we hope will spread throughout the community just as easily as warm peanut butter on toast! This is a great way to make people feel great, while making a difference for those in need. We want to continue spreading those positive feelings throughout our community."
