LU Biscuits and Erin Fetherston Bring a Little Chic to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York

Limited Edition Crème Roulee Rolled Wafer Tin Available Exclusively at www.amazon.com/lu

East Hanover, NJ (September 10, 2009) LU, best known for its passion for fine ingredients and exquisite French biscuits, has partnered with influential fashion designer Erin Fetherston to bring her whimsical designs and unparalleled sense of style off the runway, and to the dessert table. Originally on exhibit in the “LU Café” at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in September 2008, Erin’s chic design is now on a limited edition LU Crème Roulee Rolled Wafers tin available exclusively at www.amazon.com/lu.

LU is an official sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and will greet event attendees at the 2009 LU Café. The brand-inspired café, located in the lobby of the Bryant Park Tents, will provide a touch of elegant, Parisian flair with samples of the Chic Little Biscuit.

“There is no better place than the legendary Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to launch Erin’s ultra chic design on the Crème Roulee Rolled Wafer tin,” said Caroline Cormier, Brand Manager, LU biscuits. “Given the brand’s French roots and Erin’s training, she was the perfect fit for the LU high-fashion makeover.”

Since its inception in France in 1850, a love and appreciation of design has been at the heart of the LU story. LU has collaborated with renowned artists to evoke its chic spirit through advertising for over a century, tracing back to the brand’s original posters commissioned by Monsieur LeFevre and Mademoiselle Utile to its most famous advertisement of Le Petit Écolier, or “The Little Schoolboy.” This commitment to design is carried through in each and every biscuit crafted with quality ingredients including pure butter and rich European chocolate and special design flourishes like signature scalloped edges.

LU Biscuits have a strong French heritage and French style has always been a true inspiration for both my runway collections and my personal tastes,” said Fetherston. “When creating the design for these tins, I was inspired by the wonderful sense of style and charm that LU represents. I felt that the handwritten script and fashion figurines would add my own personal, modern twist to the elegant spirit and sense of playfulness and delight of LU Biscuits.”

LU will also celebrate Erin and her work with an after party following her runway show on Sunday, September 13th.

The limited edition Erin Fetherston-designed packaging with LU biscuits Crème Roulee Rolled Wafers will be available in cases of six tins per case for $39.00, while supplies last, at www.amazon.com/lu

About LU Biscuits
For more than 150 years, the LU brand (www.lubiscuits.com) has been synonymous with some of the world's most delicious cookies. Founded in 1850, LU is one of the greatest success stories in the French food industry. Each LU biscuit is a work of art, capturing the elegant design and rich European taste people have come to expect from LU. LU biscuits’ devotion to art and design began in 1850 when a French baker named Monsieur LeFevre married Mademoiselle Utile, and their blossoming love became a shared passion for baking exquisite biscuits. Each biscuit was considered a work of art, and like all great artists, they proudly placed their initials, “LU,” on each and every biscuit. The design of the brand’s signature cookie, Le Petit Écolier, was molded in chocolate from the image of “The Little School Boy” by renowned illustrator Firman Bouisset, furthering the brand’s history of style and design. In 2007, LU joined Kraft Foods and is one of the company’s top-selling brands with products available in 100 countries and revenues exceeding $1 billion globally.
