Kraft Foods Joins the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation in the U.S.

Northfield, IL (October 5, 2009)
– Today, Kraft Foods Inc. announced it is participating in the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, a national, multi-year effort designed to help reduce obesity – especially childhood obesity – in the United States. With its long-standing commitment to healthy lifestyles, Kraft Foods is pleased to add the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation to its portfolio of health and wellness initiatives.

"From leading the way in advertising only better-for-you products to children to pioneering the concept of 100 calorie packs, we know we have a role to play in helping consumers make healthy lifestyle choices,” said Rhonda Jordan, President, Health & Wellness, Kraft Foods. “Kraft Foods is committed to working together with leading food and beverage makers, retailers and other organizations, so that we can make a meaningful contribution to helping Americans lead healthier lives.”

The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation is an unprecedented coalition of more than 40 retailers, non-governmental organizations and food and beverage manufacturers. It seeks to encourage behavior change and provide tools to help consumers achieve energy balance in three critical areas: the marketplace, the workplace and schools.

For more than 100 years, Kraft Foods has been making affordable, delicious foods people can feel good about eating – including foods that fit their healthy lifestyles. Our participation in the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation further demonstrates our commitment to health and wellness. The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation’s priorities align well with the four simple beliefs we follow: provide consumers clear nutrition information, offer better-for-you options, advertise responsibly to children and promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
