Climate Change Conference Helps Us Reinforce Our Commitment to the Environment
December 22, 2009 – Kraft Foods joined almost 15,000 companies, governments and scientific leaders from around the world at the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. For our company, climate change issues are tied to our sustainability goals. Irene Rosenfeld, our Chairman and CEO, joined leaders from almost 800 companies and signed the Copenhagen Communiqué on Climate Change. It’s a written statement urging UN and world leaders to aggressively tackle climate issues and set demanding targets for greenhouse gas emissions.

Your Clicking, Sharing Help Us Fight Hunger

‘Kraft Hope Kitchen’ Brings Better Nutrition to Rural Chinese Schools
October 21, 2009
– We’re helping improve the nutrition of food served to students through our partnership with the China Youth Development Foundation. We made an $800,000 grant that will help build 100 “Kraft Hope Kitchens” in rural schools in five provinces. We’re also helping provide the food to be prepared in the new kitchens. The project will benefit more than 50,000 children and teachers.

Our Investments in Russia – New Biscuit Plant Opens; Health 4 Schools Program Expands

-- Today, we opened our new biscuit manufacturing facility in Sobinka, Vladimir region. We also announced a $1.3 million grant from the Kraft Foods Foundation to Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) in Russia to expand our Health 4 Schools program there.

Aid Sent for Natural Disasters in Indonesia, Samoa

-- The Kraft Foods Foundation will donate $70,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies for relief efforts in Indonesia and Samoa following recent earthquakes and a tsunami.


Humanitarian Aid Sent to Philippines for Typhoon Ketsana Relief Efforts
October 5, 2009 – The Kraft Foods Foundation and Kraft Foods Philippines will donate $45,000 to Save the Children for relief efforts in the Philippines following Typhoon Ketsana.

Humanitarian Aid Sent for Flooding in Georgia, US
September 30, 2009 – We’ve made an in-kind donation valued at $31,000 for relief efforts for those affected by flooding in the Atlanta, Georgia, US, area and the surrounding counties. Our Community Involvement team partnered with the American Red Cross to deliver a truckload of sweet and salty snacks to flood-ravaged neighborhoods.

Kraft Foods, World Food Programme, Industry Partners: Working Together to End Childhood Hunger in the Developing World
September 25, 2009 – Today we announced our participation in a World Food Programme initiative to help end hunger and malnutrition among children in the developing world. The $50 million, five-year program will focus on long-term solutions that address the underlying causes of hunger and malnutrition.

Kraft Great Kids Program Grows to Bring More Fun, Fitness and Education to Deserving Kids
August 14, 2009 – Kraft Foods Foundation is renewing our commitment to Chicago-area children through the Kraft Great Kids program with $1.6 million in grants. In partnership with local organizations, we’ve developed Kraft Great Kids to provide year-round programs for children across the city. Now, it’s expanding to include more partnerships and more activities.

Aid Sent for Wildfires in Canada
August 12, 2009 – The Kraft Foods Foundation has made a $25,000 donation to help residents of British Columbia, Canada, who have been affected by recent wildfires.  Our donation will be made to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross.

New Plant Brings Us Closer to Consumers in Northeastern Brazil
August 10, 2009 – Our Brazilian business announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in the city of Vitória de Santo Antão, 30 miles away from Recife. The $52 million to develop the location is an important investment for our business in Brazil. Construction will start soon and the plan is to open the facility in the first half of 2011.

New Healthy Lifestyles Program Gets Kids Cooking in Ukraine

– Our new healthy lifestyles program in Ukraine is teaching children the importance of good nutrition and physical activity at two schools near our plant in Trostyanets, Ukraine.  The lessons are part of the Healthy Child – Healthy State program we helped launch.  It’s the first program of its kind in the county. 

Vegemite Honored with Banksia Foundation Environmental Award
July 27, 2009Vegemite, Australia's favorite spread, has won the 2009 Agriculture and Food "From Paddock to Plate" Banksia Award, sponsored by the Australian Food and Grocery Council.  We’re recognized for our innovative improvements to the manufacturing process that have reduced waste water by more than 60 percent and reduced energy consumption by more than 50 percent since 2002.

‘Walk of Life’ Inspires Malaysians to Eat, Live Right
July 24, 2009 – More than seven thousand people recently gathered in Metropolitan Park in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to put their best foot forward toward a healthier life.  They helped make this year the biggest turnout yet for the Jacob’s biscuit brand’s “Walk of Life.”  The five kilometer walk and community event is part of the brand’s on-going campaign inspiring Malaysians to adopt healthy lifestyles.

Monument to Chocolate Marks our 15th Anniversary in Russia

– To help mark Kraft Foods’ 15th anniversary in the Russian market and celebrate our iconic brands, we recently unveiled a one-of-a-kind monument near our chocolate plant in Pokrov.  At nearly 10 feet (three meters) tall, the “chocolate fairy” bronze statue lives in a park outside the Pokrov Museum of Chocolate.

After 85 Years, Australians Tasting, Naming New Vegemite

– For the first time in the brand’s history, there’s a new way to enjoy Vegemite.  The new edition – Vegemite “Name Me” – is a smooth, velvety version of the original. Starting July 5, consumers can enter their name for the new product at www.vegemite.com.au.
