Humanitarian Aid Sent to Philippines for Typhoon Ketsana Relief Efforts
October 5, 2009 – The Kraft Foods Foundation and Kraft Foods Philippines will donate $45,000 to Save the Children for relief efforts in the Philippines following Typhoon Ketsana.

Humanitarian Aid Sent for Flooding in Georgia, US
September 30, 2009 – We’ve made an in-kind donation valued at $31,000 for relief efforts for those affected by flooding in the Atlanta, Georgia, US, area and the surrounding counties. Our Community Involvement team partnered with the American Red Cross to deliver a truckload of sweet and salty snacks to flood-ravaged neighborhoods.

Kraft Foods, World Food Programme, Industry Partners: Working Together to End Childhood Hunger in the Developing World
September 25, 2009 – Today we announced our participation in a World Food Programme initiative to help end hunger and malnutrition among children in the developing world. The $50 million, five-year program will focus on long-term solutions that address the underlying causes of hunger and malnutrition.

Kraft Great Kids Program Grows to Bring More Fun, Fitness and Education to Deserving Kids
August 14, 2009 – Kraft Foods Foundation is renewing our commitment to Chicago-area children through the Kraft Great Kids program with $1.6 million in grants. In partnership with local organizations, we’ve developed Kraft Great Kids to provide year-round programs for children across the city. Now, it’s expanding to include more partnerships and more activities.

Aid Sent for Wildfires in Canada
August 12, 2009 – The Kraft Foods Foundation has made a $25,000 donation to help residents of British Columbia, Canada, who have been affected by recent wildfires.  Our donation will be made to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross.

New Plant Brings Us Closer to Consumers in Northeastern Brazil
August 10, 2009 – Our Brazilian business announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in the city of Vitória de Santo Antão, 30 miles away from Recife. The $52 million to develop the location is an important investment for our business in Brazil. Construction will start soon and the plan is to open the facility in the first half of 2011.

New Healthy Lifestyles Program Gets Kids Cooking in Ukraine
July 28, 2009
– Our new healthy lifestyles program in Ukraine is teaching children the importance of good nutrition and physical activity at two schools near our plant in Trostyanets, Ukraine.  The lessons are part of the Healthy Child – Healthy State program we helped launch.  It’s the first program of its kind in the county. 

Vegemite Honored with Banksia Foundation Environmental Award
July 27, 2009Vegemite, Australia's favorite spread, has won the 2009 Agriculture and Food "From Paddock to Plate" Banksia Award, sponsored by the Australian Food and Grocery Council.  We’re recognized for our innovative improvements to the manufacturing process that have reduced waste water by more than 60 percent and reduced energy consumption by more than 50 percent since 2002.

‘Walk of Life’ Inspires Malaysians to Eat, Live Right
July 24, 2009 – More than seven thousand people recently gathered in Metropolitan Park in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to put their best foot forward toward a healthier life.  They helped make this year the biggest turnout yet for the Jacob’s biscuit brand’s “Walk of Life.”  The five kilometer walk and community event is part of the brand’s on-going campaign inspiring Malaysians to adopt healthy lifestyles.

Monument to Chocolate Marks our 15th Anniversary in Russia
July 14, 2009
– To help mark Kraft Foods’ 15th anniversary in the Russian market and celebrate our iconic brands, we recently unveiled a one-of-a-kind monument near our chocolate plant in Pokrov.  At nearly 10 feet (three meters) tall, the “chocolate fairy” bronze statue lives in a park outside the Pokrov Museum of Chocolate.

Fighting Hunger with Hugs – Kraft Peanut Butter Helps ‘Spread the Feeling’ in Canada

Kraft peanut butter bears Smoothie and Crunchie will be giving out hugs at events across Canada and online at www.spreadthefeeling.ca.  For each bear hug, the Kraft peanut butter team will donate one jar of peanut butter to local food banks, up to 50,000 jars.

Kraft Foods Sells Cheese Brands and Plant in Spain
May 11, 2009 – We have reached an agreement with Nueva Rumasa to sell our manufacturing plant in Mahón, Spain.  Nueva Rumasa will acquire the facility and the process cheese brands Tranchettes, Santé and Quesilettes.  The transaction will be completed by June 30, 2009.

Kraft Foods Foundation Responds to Earthquake in Italy
April 15, 2009 – The Kraft Foods Foundation is donating $50,000 to assist victims of the earthquake that struck the city of L’Aquila in central Italy, 75 miles northeast of Rome.

Maxwell House Plays Role at Historic White House Dinner
April 10, 2009 – President Barack Obama hosted a Passover Seder dinner, which is believed to be the first Seder meal hosted by a president at the White House. To help the president and his guests faithfully follow the traditions of the meal, they used the famed Maxwell House coffee Haggadah as their guide. The Haggadah contains the story of the exodus of the Jews from Egypt, instructions for the Seder service, as well as prayers and songs.

April 7, 2009 – We’ve made an in-kind donation valued at $55,000 to assist those living near the Red River in Fargo, North Dakota, US, where recent flooding has damaged property and forced thousands of residents out of their homes.

Kraft Foods and Bega Create Partnership to Expand Cheese Manufacturing in Australia
March 12, 2009 – Kraft Foods has announced a commercial agreement with Bega, a leading packager and processer of cheese, which will expand cheese production at the manufacturing facility in Strathmerton, Victoria, Australia. Through the agreement, Bega will acquire and manage the Strathmerton site and manufacture cheese at the location to be marketed and sold by Kraft Foods.
 
Kraft Foods Sells Maguary Juices
March 4, 2009 - Kraft Foods in Brazil recently announced the sale of the Maguary juice business to the Companhia Brasileira de Bebidas (CBB).  This transaction includes the juice concentrates and ready-to-drink lines, as well as the manufacturing facilities located in Araguari, Minas Gerais state and Aracati, Ceara state, Brazil.
 
Kraft Foods Joins with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to Boost African Farmer Incomes
February 19, 2009 - Kraft Foods and other industry partners have joined with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to pledge a total of $90 million over five years to boost the incomes of cocoa and cashew farmers in Africa. The efforts will support sustainable agriculture, which is one of the six focus areas of our Sustainability efforts.

February 13, 2009 - Kraft has made cash and in-kind contributions of $225,000 to support relief efforts for wildfires in Australia and recent ice storms in the US.
 
'Wal-Mart Says We’re 'Best in the World'
February 13, 2009 - Wal-Mart has recognized us as the “Best Supplier in the World.” Kraft walked away with the title at Wal-Mart’s recent supplier summit. We also won the Wal-Mart Dry Grocery Supplier of the Year and the Big Bet Award.

From Davos: Irene Joins Gates, Annan on Food Security Panel
February 2, 2009 - Resolving food insecurity was one of the questions put on the table at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Kraft’s Chairman and CEO Irene Rosenfeld was part of a panel on “Fresh Solutions for Food Security,” along with other business and political leaders, including Kofi Annan and Bill Gates.

Kraft and Facebook Friends Feed Hungry Families
January 21, 2009 - It takes just a few clicks of the mouse to help feed hungry families in the US. Users of the social networking website, Facebook can add the “Kraft Supports Feeding America” application to their profiles and invite their friends to do the same. For each person that adds the application, we donate six meals through Feeding America – up to 3.2 million meals total.

Aid Sent for Costa Rica Earthquake Relief
January 14, 2009 - Kraft has made a $25,000 contribution to the International Federation of the Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies at the United Nations. The contribution is in support of relief efforts for those impacted by the recent earthquake in Costa Rica.
