Kraft Hope Kitchen

"Kraft Hope Kitchen" is a charity project jointly initiated by Kraft Foods China and the China Youth Development Foundation in Oct, 2009. This project aims to improve the nutrition and diet of rural Chinese school children, and to improve the nutritional knowledge and food safety practice of rural teachers and kitchen staff.

Kraft Foods China donated RMB5.5 million to build the first 100 "Kraft Hope Kitchens" in 5 Chinese provinces - Anhui, Yunnan, Jilin, Hunan and Hebei Provinces. By June, 2010, the 100 well-equipped Kraft Hope Kitchens were in full use to provide hot meals for 50,000 rural school children.

Every Kraft Hope Kitchen is equipped with standard cooking utensils, refrigerator, disinfection cabinet, as well as nutrition guidelines and food safety practice posters and booklets. Headmasters from 100 Hope school have received trainings on children's nutrition and food safety practice. Kraft Foods China employees and business partners regularly provide volunteer services and donations to Kraft Hope Kitchens. Kraft Foods China, together with the China Youth Development Foundation, will work together to expand the Kraft Hope Kitchen project by involving more societal participation.
