People Power

Human Resources

The future of our whole business depends on the quality of the people we recruit, and the quality of their experience once they’re here. That’s where we turn to Human Resources. To think up clever new ways of spotting talent, then nurturing and keeping hold of it.

But there’s plenty more to Human Resources at Kraft Foods. That’s because they shape every strategic decision we make. By helping us work out exactly what manpower, skills and expertise we need to turn our ideas into reality – and how our plans will affect our people’s life at work.

When I joined Kraft Foods at the start of 2010, I was struck by how busy and focused people were. Learning and development was one of my remits, and I was keen to use a different approach to suit people with demanding schedules. One that would work for the majority of people in the company, and deliver real business benefit.

So I looked into shorter, more sharply focused learning initiatives. They were shaped by what people truly wanted, as well as advice from learning experts – and the results were great. Attendance went beyond our expectations and we received really meaningful feedback. It encouraged me to share our experience with other countries, and the model’s now being adopted elsewhere in Europe. Which shows just how open Kraft Foods is to new approaches.
