NORTHFIELD, Ill., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Balance Bar Company announced today a voluntary recall of one flavor of Balance Nutrition Energy Bars: Honey Peanut.

The company said it has no reason to believe there is a safety issue with this product. Rather, it is taking the action, as a precaution, because an external manufacturer sourced peanuts from the Plainview, Texas plant of Peanut Corporation of America.

This recall does NOT include Yogurt Honey Peanut Balance Bars or any other varieties of Balance Bars. Neither Balance Bar Company, nor any of its suppliers, source any other peanut ingredients or peanut butter from the Peanut Corporation of America.

The product was distributed to retail stores and foodservice operators nationwide.
 
Honey Peanut Balance Bars have a UPC code of 750049 000102 and come in a 1.76 oz (50 g) bar or 26.4 oz (1 lb 10.4 oz) box of 15 bars with a UPC code of 750049 001109.

Consumers should not consume the recalled product and should discard any product they may have. They can contact the company at 1-866-925-7698 with any questions they may have or to request reimbursement for purchased product.
