Kraft Eden Cheese

Kraft Foods Philippines was established in 1963 as a groceries manufacturing company. A year later, we had begun selling Kraft Cheddar Cheese, a product that Kraft Foods is known for.

With Kraft Foods’ expertise in making processed cheese and the aim to produce a truly Filipino product, Kraft Eden Cheese was born in 1981. The latter was the first block (rectangular in shape) cheese product in the Philippines to use the carton packaging, setting the trend for the industry. Today, the carton packaging is the standard for block cheese products. Thus began the rich legacy of Kraft Eden Cheese.

The years that passed established Kraft Eden Cheese as the favourite among Filipino moms. For its distinct taste and cheesiness, the brand became an ally in the kitchen. Whether for making meals more delicious or serving as the main attraction for merienda itself, Kraft Eden Cheese has indeed touched many Filipino homes. It has since earned the moniker “Ang Pambansang Keso.”

Being that Kraft Eden Cheese is trusted by moms in the kitchen, the brand sought to make meal preparation more delicious for moms. In 2008, Kraft Foods welcomed Eden Meltsarap cheese, a quick-melting variant of the brand already loved by many. True to its name, Eden Meltsarap provided quick-melting cheese for faster cooking. This gave moms more time to devote to her family, while still showing her love and care.

Today times have changed for Filipino moms, and Kraft Foods understand this. That’s why we introduced another new product to make life and cooking easier for mothers. In 2010 Eden Cooksarap was launched in the market. This product has the distinction of being the first shelf-stable grated cheese. Shelf-stable means that Eden Cooksarap doesn’t need to be refrigerated, adapting to the Filipino setting and needs. The product aims to make everyday mealtimes feel more special with delicious food, and at an affordable price of only P15 SRP.

To thank Filipinos for years of using Kraft Eden Cheese, the brand’s Christmas campaigns aim to help uplift the spirit and pride of our consumers. In 2009, we launched Eden’s Keso de Gallo, a tribute to the Filipino tradition of misa de gallo by giving back to local communities in need and allowing them to celebrate the season meaningfully.

After the Tropical Storm Ondoy calamity in 2009, in our own cheesy way, our goal was to help uplift the morale of our people. The brand aimed to feature the talents of the country’s symbols of hope, the youth. At the same time we challenged ourselves to break a world record that would highlight the Filipinos’ ingenuity, resourcefulness, and most of all, the Filipino bayanihan spirit of working together.

Thus, the Eden YUMM (Your Ulam Mas Masarap – Your Dish More Delicious) World Record-Breaking Event was born. This was a moment when hundreds of cooking students from different schools came together at the Araneta Coliseum on December 14, 2009 and created 5,845 unique cheese dishes. This event broke the Guinness World Record of 4,668 set by India. We further extended the celebration by hosting feasts with cheese in 9 towns during the 9 days of simbang gabi.

In 2010, we brought it to a higher level through our Eden Keso de Gallo: 100 days Sarap ng Pasko. This was a campaign seeking cheese recipes with the use of local ingredients from 100 towns all over the Philippines. The winning town not only reaped pride for the local community, but also received a P2,000,000.00 award for community development to improve and rebuild their town.
